The Hampton Hotel is the second hotel for Charleston Carifest.
The Marriott Hotel on Lockwood Drive costs $139.00 per night, but is across the street from Brittle Bank Park and is also the location for the Masquerade Fete.

Carnival in Charleston

Charleston Carifest, the Caribbean carnival experience will be celebrated June 20 – 23 in beautiful Charleston, SC. Various events have been scheduled to encourage all to share in the fun and excitement. while Carnival is considered a time of fun and wild abandonment, Charleston Carifest is unique because it encompasses an educational component along with the frivolity. This year the group is proud to welcome the Honourable Dr.Neil Parsan, Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to the US, and Dr Anil Ramnanan, the Trinidad and Tobago Consulate General to participate in both the Symposium on Thursday, June 20, and the fun activities on the subsequent days. Both emissaries will lead the 2013 Carnival Street Parade.
Thursday, June 20 Symposium, Meet and Greet at the Avery Research Center, 125 Bull Street,
Friday, June 21 Masquerade Fete at the Marriott Hotel on Lockwood Drive. Proceeds from this event will to the Children’s Steel Band Project.
Saturday, June 22, Carnival Day there will be three events, Carnival Street parade starting at 3:00 PM from the Visitor’s Center traveling down King Street to Brittle Bank Park. this cultural extravaganza includes beautifully clad dancers in exotic Caribbean costumes dancing to various Caribbean music en route to Brittle Bank Park. Brittle Bank Park is the site of the Caribbean Carnival Village. Activities in the village will include live performances from Reggae and Soca artists, dancers, food, drinks, crafts and games. This is followed by a night of dancing and celebrating at the White After Party at 787 Bar and Grille, 5131 Dorchester Road.
Sunday, March 23, a tour of historic Charleston in a beautiful horse drawn carriage, to end the Carnival celebration for 2013.

Celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month at Charleston Carifest, June 20 – 22 in Charleston SC. Dance, eat, drink and be merry as we learn about the beautiful country of Trinidad and Tobago.

Brazil has Rio but we have Charleston Carifest. Celebrate Rio style Carnival in Charleston. In Rio you join a Samba school in Charleston you join a Mas Band. Join a Mas Band, purchase a costume and dance through the streets of Charleston!

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Instrument

The steelpan is Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument. During the Carnival season, music lovers crowd the “yards” of their favourite bands as they practice in preparation for Panorama, the annual competition for steel pan bands. These sessions are free, open to the public, and can stretch into the wee hours of the morning. Outside of the Carnival season, music lovers can look forward to the Laventille Steelband Festival, a street parade, and Pan Yard Sensations, a series of steelpan concerts hosted by the Tourism Development Company Limited.
